Tillman directs 'Miles Davis'
Producers have drawn on George Tillman Junior. to build up and helm "Miles Davis," an approaching biopic concerning the influential jazz music performer. Helmer and producer Tillman ("Soul Food," "Faster," "Well known," "Barbershop") will base the film around the 2006 book "Dark Magus: The Jekyll and Hyde Existence of Miles Davis," composed by Davis' boy, Gregory Davis. Film follows Davis' existence, including his battles with drug abuse, along with the growth and development of his legendary body of labor. Supporting figures likely to come in the pic include Jimi Hendrix, Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Gil Evans, Michael Jackson and John Coltrane. Nick Davis Raynes and Ged Dickinson partner to create the film with Davis Raynes Prods. in colaboration with Condition Street Pictures. A period for "Miles Davis" has not been set.
